Rabaul Caldera

Location: East New Britain, Papua New Guinea
Coordinates: 4.239 S 152.210 E

Named after the nearby town of Rabaul, this active volcano of 688 meters is among the nearest to civilization. It is constantly spewing ash and repeatedly erupted from time to time.

Arkenu Craters

Location: Al Kufrah, Libya
Coordinates: 22.099 N 23.795 E

Located in south-eastern Libya in the Sahara Desert, lies two impact craters of 10km and 6.8km diameter respectively. A single meteor must have broken up and disintegrated when entering the atmosphere, and the largest two pieces survived to impact the surface.

Mount Damavand

Location: Mazandaran, Iran
Coordinates: 35.955 N 52.110 E

Located between Tehran and the Caspian Sea, Mount Damavand is a potentially active volcano with recent volcanic activities. Standing at 5,610 meters, it is the highest mountain in the Middle East and highest volcano in the entire Asia.

Angel Falls

Location: Bolivar, Venezuela
Coordinates: 5.966 N 62.540 W

At 979 meters, Angel Falls in the highest waterfall in the world. It is so high that most water has evaporated by the time it reaches the bottom. The waterfall was named after an American aviator, Jimmie Angel, who re-discovered this landmark in 1933 and popularized it to the outside world.

Teotihuacan

Location: Mexico, Mexico
Coordinates: 19.692 N 98.844 W

Relatively near to Mexico City, Teotihuacan is one of the most significant archaeological sites of pre-Columbian civilization. During its golden age around 450 CE, Teotihuacan was among the largest cities in the world. The city complex is notable for large pyramids and well-preserved architecture and murals.
