Meroe Pyramids

Meroe was an ancient city along the Nile river, serving as the capital of the Kush Kingdom around 600 BCE. Today, a large number of Nubian pyramids remain. Unlike their Egyptian counterparts, Nubian pyramids are generally built on less footprint, resulting in lower heights and steeper edges.

This Brazilian landmark in Rio de Janeiro is what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. Overlooking the city on a mountain to the north, this statue is the internationally recognizable icon of Brazil.

Pendjari National Park

Location: Atakora, Benin

Straddling along the international border with Burkina Faso and Niger, this is one of the most pristine locations in Benin and West Africa. It is famous for its savanna landscape and wildlife.
